If you read a great unproduced spec script and want to let the world know what a solid job the writer did, then #SpecScriptShoutOut is for you. These shout outs on Bluesky are aimed at getting writers to spread positive word of mouth about someone else’s scripts that they’d feel comfortable recommending themselves. Follow @SpecScriptShoutOut on Bluesky.
The hashtag can be used any time, and the second Thursday of every month is a shout out celebration day when it ramps up. Follow @SpecScriptShoutOut on Bluesky to see shout outs in real-time, as tweets using #SpecScriptShoutOut will be boosted by this account.
Deeper Use Of The Data
If you are looking for Film & TV script recommendations, we have you covered. And not only can you find recommendations, you can also find any other scripts by the same writer which were shouted out, all through the tool above courtesy of John and his wife, Angela.
And if you’re into zeroing in on scripts that align with a particular taste, here’s a fantastic feature: you can see everybody who has shouted out a script you liked, and by clicking on those names, you can find out all the other scripts they have shouted out. You will quickly have a solid idea of whose recommendations match up the best with your own.
About Michael & John & Spec Script Shout Out
Michael Hennessy started #SpecScriptShoutOut on Twitter in 2017 with the goal of getting people to tweet about fellow screenwriters with a public shout out for the great spec scripts that their fellow screenwriters have written. In 2019, he teamed up with John Henderson to run this project and break down the data into something what was even more useful on Twitter. And in 2023, Michael migrated to Bluesky, bringing along the shout outs.
John Henderson is a screenwriter and author who grew up in video stores and in libraries. He has written several feature screenplays, including “Jackson” which he adapted into a novella. John lives in Florida with his wife, Angela, and can be found on Bluesky. He is, as always, working on a new project.
